If there’s one thing I’m proud of, it’s my extroverted abilities. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of people who hadn’t yet mastered the art of conversation. Most of my friends (and not to mention some of the people I have dated over the years) simply weren’t good at striking up a conversation. Especially when you meet strangers – whether it’s new colleagues or schoolmates, there is a sense of awkwardness in the air. However, there’s a pretty good way of fighting that – conversation starters!

Why Conversation Starters Are a Good Idea?
I was so tired of going to parties or team-building activities and being surrounded by people who didn’t know how to start a conversation. As an alternative, I came up with a solution – two games I like to play with people who find it difficult to break the ice. The first one I call the 20 Questions game, which is more suitable for a first date or a deep conversation. You can take turns to ask each other 20 questions, or both of you can answer 20 questions you have already come up with. It’s a fun way to get to know someone on a date. Thus, if you’re sitting in front of somebody shy, they can feel relieved not having to come up with questions themselves and feeling like they’re under the spotlight.
The second game, for a lack of a better name, is called Conversation Jar. You come up with a bunch of questions, write them down, or simply print the ones below if you want to save time. Place them in a jar, bowl, cup, or hat, and take turns drawing from it. This will really untie some tongues, trust me! Depending on who you’re going to play with, I decided to give you some inspiration. There are over 300 conversation starters here divided into different sections – whether you’re a teenager or are in a long-distance relationship, there are conversation ideas here to suit everyone.
